Clubs and Activities in Bristol

Clubs and Activities

ELC Bristol can help you join many clubs and activities in Bristol!  We know that our students have many diverse interests and passions.  We want to nurture those as well language skills!

University of Bristol

You can join public events and lectures at University of Bristol locations.  Our students also have free access to use the Arts and Social Sciences Library to study.  This library is open much later than other libraries in the city.  Bristol University no longer offer associate membership to partner schools.  However, we have replaced their previous offer with a better value and more varied selection!

ELC Bristol have a huge database of clubs, societies and activities – just for you!

In school, we have a database of over one hundred teams, groups, clubs and regular meetings in the local area.  We have something for everyone!

Some clubs are free and you can just turn up on the day to take part.  Other clubs require membership/joining fees.  Full-time students often get student reductions, and our staff can help arrange transport when needed.  For example, you can join a local football team for £5/session, playing matches just 10 minutes from school!

In the past, we’ve had many students join and take part in different clubs and activities in Bristol.  Last year, our students played for local football, rugby and hockey teams, joined a local Bristol boxing club, and got involved with a public speaking society!  Some students joined a dance class, others took part in a pottery course – all while studying English at ELC!

12 young men stand in their football kit on an indoor football pitch. The men are taking part in a football activity. The men are students at ELC Bristol who have expressed interest in joining different clubs and activities in Bristol.

Our student Shion (centre) joined ELC Bristol in March 2025.  He has spent most of his 10-month study period playing for the Old Cliftonians Football Club near ELC Bristol!  Shion has not only improved his football skills, but also his ability to speak and listen in authentic English sporting situations.  He’s also made some great lifelong friends!
