Bird-watching in Bristol is a great way to relax and decompress after a day of study – plus you’ll meet new people who share the same interests as you!

Do you prefer to spend your leisure time relaxing in nature, waiting for rare birds to fly past?  There are lots of other people in Bristol who enjoy the same thing! Bird-watching in Bristol is rewarding and gives students a chance to explore the countryside around the city and North Somerset.

Bristol Ornithological Club 

Location:  Different every time!  Join and contact to find out about future meeting locations. 

Cost:  Full-time students can join for free!  For others, it’s £18/year. 

Info:  Regular meetings in the Bristol area and further afield (usually via coach or carpool).  Weekend trips 3 times/year.  Regular meetings on Tuesdays.  Club holidays abroad are also organised.

The Downs Bird Trail

Near to the school is the Clifton Downs nature conservation area – click this link to download a trail leaflet which will take you around the Downs in search of different birds!

RSPB Bristol 

Another great resource for areas in and around Bristol which are popular with birds is via the RSPB.  You can join as a member if you’d like (£5/month), or you can use their website for free and go on your own visits.
