Chess in Bristol

There are many chess clubs in Bristol for you to practice and hone your gameplay!

Bristol and Clifton Chess Club 

Location:  Hotwells (about 30mins walking from school) 

Cost:  £40/season (over 25s); £15/season (under 25s) 

Info:  Meeting on Tuesdays at 7:20pm for league games, newcomers can play socially in the bar or watch the league games being played.  They have teams spread across 5 divisions of Bristol’s Chess League.  Social meets on Fridays.  2025 champions in Bristol!

Location:  Fishponds Club (about 55mins by bus)

Location:  Redland (15mins walking from school)

Info:  Accepting members of all abilities, this club are seven-times winners of the Bristol Chess Cup!  Meeting on Tuesdays from 7:30pm.

Location:  Little Stoke (about 1hr by bus from Clifton) 

Cost:  £25/year for adults 

Info:  New players are allowed several taster sessions before joining.  Meeting on Tuesdays from 7:30pm until 11pm.
