ELC Bristol is family-run school, offering intensive General English and examination preparation courses in Bristol, a lively university city in the South West of England.

Go to Abon House, 25 Saint John's Road, Clifton, BS8 2HD, except in July and August when you should go  to the Clifton Summer Centre, 4-5 Worcester Road, Clifton, BS83JL.

If you get lost, call this number and we will come and get you +44 774 7021261.

The test and induction process starts at 09.00, so you should arrive at the English Language Centre at around 08.45.  Please bring something to write with, good walking shoes, an umbrella (just in case) and your passport or ID card.

We introduce ourselves and then give you a test. During the test, a senior member of the academic team interviews you to see how well you speak English.

The test has 100 questions (multiple choice). We also ask you to write something about yourself.

After the test, there is a 'Welcome Talk' by the Principal and Director, then there is a break.  During the break, a sandwich man will visit the school, so if you are hungry, you can buy something to eat.

At 11.15 we continue the 'Welcome Talks'.  You will meet some of  the admin team, the social programme manager and the Vice Principal or Director of Studies.  We aim to tell you everything you need to know in order to get the most out of your stay.

After the talks, we take you for lunch in a nearby cafe. Lunch will cost a maximim of £5.00 so bring some cash with you.  After lunch we take your for a short walk around Clifton, showing you some of the main places of interest.

We arrive back at school around 1.40pm and we tell you where you need to go to start your class at 14.00.

On main starting dates and in July and August, the first day programme is a little different.  The Welcome Talks all take place after break. After lunch, you go for a longer walk around Bristol and you start your lessons the following day.   The next morning, go to the school building nearest to where you live at 08.50.  In the reception area, you will find a list with your name, your class and which building you are in.
